About Me

I started teaching for the Twin Falls School District in 1985, and have enjoyed sharing my love of mathematics with students for more than 30 years!  During this time, I have taught every math course from middle school mathematics through Calculus and have had the privilege to work alongside and learn from many outstanding colleagues.  My husband, Dennis, recently retired after 32 years teaching music in this district, and we have two grown children.  We enjoy biking, hiking, skiing, music, gardening, and traveling.

I earned a B.S. in Zoology from UC Davis and after deciding to pursue a career in education, I finished my teaching credential at Idaho State University.

My Classes

Geometry is the application of algebraic concepts in terms of geometric figures. Material includes extensive study of the triangle, parallel lines, formal proofs, the Pythagorean Theorem, quadrilaterals and other polygons, circles, two and three dimensional relationships, introduction to trigonometry, proportions, area, volume, and applications of mathematical formulas.

Pre-Calculus covers the study of functions (linear, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic), conic sections and sequences/series. Right triangle and circular approaches to trigonometry are studied in depth. This course is required for students intending to take Calculus. Five (5) college credits from CSI can be earned for this course (Math 147).

Statistics involves collecting, organizing, analyzing and interpreting numerical information. Students will use and apply statistical methods that are relevant to today's world in business, science, medicine and everyday life. An intensive study of probability is included. One (1) math credit can be earned for this course.

Brief Calculus includes a review of functions and their graphs, rates of change, a thorough study of limits, continuity, maxima and minima of functions, and differentiation rules and applications will be studied in this course which is intended for the student who would like an introduction to both Calculus
